
Cornwall Healthy Living Centre
West Cornwall Healthy Living Centre aims to help individuals and families in Penwith and Kerrier achieve a healthier lifestyle. Our Pathways to Health and Wellbeing project is targeting three groups: people living in deprived communities, people with low-level mental ill-health and people over 50.
Our current activities are:
- WCHLC database/website in GP surgeries.
- GP Plus: working with health professionals to signpost patients to wellbeing activities.
- Volunteer recruitment scheme: recruiting volunteers to support individuals and wellbeing organisations/projects/activities
Free complementary therapies for people living in deprived wards.
- We Can Get Active Week: sports taster sessions for people with mental health problems.
- Wellbeing workshops.
- Healthy Living newsletter.
Planned for 2009 are:
- Counselling service and complementary therapies for unemployed people.
- We Can Keep Active follow-up sessions for people with mental health problems.
- Wellbeing sessions, eg Tai Chi, healthy eating and keep fit classes.

Senior Volunteers Scheme for Older People
This on going project aims to tackle isolation and increase social interaction by promoting volunteering activities and opportunities for older people and connecting volunteers and the elderly people together through a wide range of supporting services in Penwith.
