After almost 15 years of service to Penwith Volunteer Bureau, Cynthia Watmore has retired as chairman of the board of trustees.

Cynthia helped secure the funding needed to set PVB up in 1996, and has played a key role in its development.

Flowers from PVB staff were presented to Cynthia at the bureau’s AGM.  Volunteer recruitment officer Marilyn Tenbeth said: “Cynthia was instrumental in getting PVB started, and has raised awareness of it ever since. She has been involved in everything we do”.

Sue Guard, chief executive of Penwith Community Development Trust (PCDT), which manages PVB at its base at the Penwtih Centre in Penzance, said staff wished Cynthia all the best for her well-deserved retirement.

“Cynthia has done a wonderful job over the years, “ she said.  “We will miss the support she has always given the bureau.”
